Yoga education had crossed into Hyderabad’s daily public schedule as the city engagements list placed Yoga Adhyayana Shibir, a holistic wellness course for all, at 5 p.m. at Ramakrishna Math. The entry stood out because it was not framed as a private studio class or a niche wellness add-on. It was simply part of the city’s ordinary calendar, giving yoga the same civic visibility as any other community engagement.

That setting matters because Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad is not a standalone hall with a one-off class. It is a branch center of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, and the yoga program sits inside the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, or VIHE. The institute says it was inaugurated on 10 September 2000 by Srimat Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj and that more than 20 lakh candidates have been trained there since inception. VIHE describes its mission in the language of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals of life-building, man-making, character-making and nation-building, and its public course slate regularly includes yoga, meditation, mind management, parenting and personality development.

For attendees, the appeal was learning as much as practice. VIHE describes Yoga Adhyayana Shibir as an offline certificate course and says yoga is treated there as an integral approach for individual perfection, with physical strength and meditative powers as the goal. An earlier Telugu notice said the course was set to begin on 8 February, run for about five months and roughly 100 hours, and be open to people aged 18 to 55. It also listed a fee of Rs 4,000 and said the curriculum would include yoga, asanas, pranayama, mudras, selected Bhagavad Gita verses and explanations, along with sessions from experts in Ayurveda, homeopathy and allopathy. Theory and practical tests were planned for the final week, after which certificates would be issued.

The practical details were equally clear for anyone looking to follow up. VIHE’s contact information lists the institute at Domalguda, opposite Indira Park, on Lower Tank Bund Road in Hyderabad 500029, with phone numbers 040-27627961 and 91772 32696. In a city calendar crowded with short notices, that is what made the yoga listing useful: it showed a structured public course, rooted in a long-running institution, still open in plain view.
