Diamond Industry Cricket Tournament IDPL 3.0 Heads to Hong Kong in 2026
The diamond industry's cricket tournament, IDPL 3.0, kicks off today in Hong Kong, uniting teams from Belgium, India, and Hong Kong for four days of play and trade networking.

Cricket bats and carats converge today at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, where the third edition of the International Diamond Premier League opens its four-day run in Hong Kong. The tournament, created by and for the global natural diamond community, brings together diamantaires, manufacturers, retailers, and logistics specialists from three of the trade's most consequential hubs: Belgium, India, and Hong Kong.
IDPL has rotated through its own geography with purpose. The first edition was hosted in Belgium and the second in India, tracing the spine of the natural diamond pipeline from Antwerp's trading floors to the cutting and polishing centers of the subcontinent. Hong Kong was a logical third destination: organizers have positioned the city explicitly as a strategic bridge between East and West for the diamond and jewelry trade, a role the event is designed to reinforce.
The format pairs competitive cricket with what organizers describe as high-impact networking across all four days, concluding with a Grand Opening Ceremony on March 22 at 11:00 AM at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, where industry leaders, dignitaries, and invited guests are expected to gather. Supporting companies at IDPL 3.0 span the full value chain, from cutting and polishing to high jewellery houses and secure logistics operations.
Sponsorship reflects that breadth. SimStar Asia Limited, part of the Sim Gems Group and headquartered in Hong Kong, is the title sponsor; the company manufactures and supplies natural diamonds and polished goods to global clients. Malca-Amit Group of Companies serves as gold sponsor, bringing its secured delivery, vaulting, bonded warehousing, and trade-show logistics expertise from its global and Hong Kong hubs. The House of Dehres, a Hong Kong-based high-jewelry house celebrated for one-of-a-kind creations featuring exceptional diamonds and precious gemstones, holds the silver sponsorship position. Ferrari Group and a sponsor listed in event materials as "Limited" round out the declared sponsor roster, though the full legal identity of the latter has not been independently confirmed.

Team sponsorships underscore the tournament's geographic ambitions. Anita Diamonds, represented by Chirag Shah, is backing the Belgium side, with organizers describing the company as embodying the dynamism and craftsmanship of Antwerp's natural diamond community. The India team is sponsored by H S Jogani and led by Ronak Jogani, a pairing that reflects India's longstanding centrality to diamond cutting, polishing, and global trade.
The league's stated objectives go beyond sport. Organizers have framed IDPL 3.0 around three explicit goals: strengthening collaboration among diamantaires, manufacturers, retailers, and service providers across continents; promoting confidence in natural diamonds by highlighting their rarity, craftsmanship, and lasting emotional value; and showcasing Hong Kong's role as a strategic bridge between Eastern and Western markets. Whether cricket can reliably carry the weight of all three ambitions is an open question, but the roster of sponsors spanning logistics, manufacturing, and luxury retail suggests the industry's heavyweights are willing to find out.
