Charm Diamond Centres has permanently shut its Erin Mills Town Centre location in Mississauga after four smash-and-grab robberies in fifteen months left the retailer with six-figure merchandise losses and no viable path forward. A company representative confirmed the closure in an email, and a Google review posted March 24 noted the store was "closing up everything packed up." The company said there are no plans to open another Mississauga location, adding only: "We are always open to explore new locations however at this time there is not one planned."

The string of attacks began on May 9, 2024, when six suspects with concealed faces and hammers entered the store at approximately 7:55 p.m., smashed multiple display cases, and fled before Peel Regional Police arrived. A witness captured the robbery on video, and the footage spread widely on social media. A second attack followed that summer, with three suspects in black hoodies recorded running from the store with bags at approximately 3 p.m. on a Sunday. Both incidents followed the same pattern: coordinated entry, hammers against glass, exit before police response.

The third robbery struck on January 19, 2025, and a fourth followed in February. By the time the January attack occurred, the assailants were still arriving dressed entirely in black, still armed with hammers, and still fleeing before officers could reach the scene. No physical injuries were reported in any of the four incidents.

Charm was not the only target at the Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue mall. Peoples Jewellers, located in the same complex, was hit in October 2024, and at least one additional jewelry store was robbed there in June 2025. Peel Regional Police responded to the escalating pattern by announcing proactive patrols at Erin Mills Town Centre alongside Square One and Meadowvale Town Centre. In December 2025, an on-site paid-duty officer and mall security intercepted four masked suspects carrying hammers before they could reach any store, resulting in arrests; the other three escaped in a stolen Honda CR-V.

The closure of Charm Diamond Centres marks a concrete outcome to what Peel Police had publicly labeled "lawless public behaviour." Where a paid-duty officer and rapid security response eventually stopped one attempt, four prior attacks had already done their damage. The display cases at Erin Mills are now empty, and the retailer has offered no timeline for a return.
