Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos Call Off Engagement Before Wedding
Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos called off their April Italy wedding in March 2026, weeks before the ceremony — leaving a $1 million emerald-cut ring at the center of the story.

Ramos and Prescott, both 32, pulled the plug on their April wedding earlier this month, informing guests in a purported email that they are not moving forward with the nuptials in Italy. Their email to 250 wedding guests for what was a destination wedding in Lake Como, Italy, was made public: "As many of you know, our wedding is currently scheduled to take place in Lake Como, Italy, on Friday April 10, 2026. It is with heavy hearts that we privately inform our attendees that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and we welcome your prayers."
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback and his fiancée called off their engagement more than a month before they were set to get married, with Ramos' rep confirming they are "heartbroken" to be ending their relationship. "There wasn't any rockiness in the lead up, and there was no big argument or blow up," the rep said in a statement to People. "It was a mutual decision." "They love their girls, and they're committed to raising their children together in the most loving and positive way," the rep continued. "It's still shocking for them since this happened so recently, and they ask for privacy while they sort everything out."
The ring at the center of this story is nothing short of extraordinary. Prescott proposed with a 10-carat emerald-cut diamond on an 18-carat yellow gold band valued at $1 million. Positioned between two tapered baguettes and set onto an 18-karat yellow gold setting, it is a composition that speaks to a very particular sensibility: the emerald cut, with its long, open facets and rectangular geometry, demands a diamond of exceptional clarity. There is nowhere to hide at 10 carats. According to Jason Arasheben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills, Prescott knew exactly what he wanted. "In my business, there are high-maintenance clients and then there's Dak. Dak was so easy to work with and was very intentional with every detail of this ring." Arasheben added that Prescott "was involved in every aspect and really wanted this to be a ring she would love. He wanted something classic but with a little flare and that's exactly what we did." The flanking tapered baguettes are a studied choice alongside an emerald cut: they elongate the finger and echo the center stone's step-cut geometry without competing with it, while the warm yellow gold ground ties the composition together with an Old Hollywood formality.
The pair went official as a couple in 2023, and Prescott proposed in October 2024. Prescott, 33, and Ramos announced their engagement in October 2024, a little over a year after confirming their relationship. At the time, the NFL star shared an Instagram carousel that featured pictures of him popping the question at the golf course and Ramos flashing her ring during their engagement party. The proposal came less than two months after Prescott signed his $240 million, four-year contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.
The competing narratives around the breakup's cause are sharply at odds. Page Six exclusively reported in the aftermath that "ongoing infidelity issues" allegedly played a role in the broken engagement, with an insider alleging "Ramos believes Prescott had a history of communicating with other women during his relationship with her," and that the pair "had a serious conversation" over the matter in January. Following their joint bachelor and bachelorette party, Page Six revealed that Ramos reportedly uncovered that Prescott was allegedly using incognito social media profiles to send inappropriate messages to multiple women and ex-flings. Those allegations trace to unnamed insiders and have not been independently corroborated; Ramos' representative, speaking on the record, described the split as mutual and absent any blowup.

Rumors also suggested the breakup might have been over a prenuptial agreement, with claims that Ramos didn't want to sign one. She quickly dismissed it herself by commenting on a clip from the Speakeasy discussing the situation, writing: "This had nothing to do with a prenup. I hope we can put that rumor to rest now."
Ramos resurfaced on social media less than two weeks after news of her messy split broke, posting to her Instagram Stories with a smile alongside daughters Margaret Jane, 2, and 9-month-old Aurora. It was a pointed image: two little girls, their mother grinning, the ring conspicuously absent from the frame. In a March 5 Instagram carousel, Ramos recapped her bachelorette weekend with a series of group shots and pictures of the women in matching bathing suits, writing: "I truly believe you can get through anything in life as long as you have really great friends. I love these girls so much." The post, which appeared four days before the breakup became public, reads differently in hindsight.
Ramos is a certified wine and spirits specialist who, after graduating from Florida State University, entered the hospitality industry before pivoting into the wine and spirits world, joining Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits in 2017 as an on-premise sales consultant. Though they are not moving forward with the wedding, the couple has indicated they will continue co-parenting their two daughters. That $1 million emerald-cut ring, with its baguette shoulders and yellow gold band, remains one of the most technically and aesthetically deliberate engagement pieces an NFL player has commissioned in recent years. What becomes of it now is a question that belongs entirely to Ramos.
