Allendale County Offers Online Tools for Meeting Access and Public Records
Allendale County residents can now watch council meetings and request public records online without setting foot in a government building.

Allendale County has built out a set of online tools that allow residents to follow local government from home, including live or recorded access to county council meetings, digital viewing of agendas and minutes, and a pathway for submitting public records requests without visiting a county office in person.
The tools are aimed specifically at closing the gap between the county's decision-making processes and residents who face barriers to attending meetings physically, whether due to work schedules, transportation, disability, or distance from the county seat.
County council meetings are among the most consequential forums for local governance in Allendale, where decisions on budgets, land use, and public services are made by elected officials. Giving residents the ability to watch those proceedings online, and to access the documentary record through agendas and minutes, extends meaningful participation beyond the room where votes are cast.

The public records request function adds another layer of accountability. Rather than requiring residents to appear in person or navigate an opaque process, the online system provides a direct channel to government documents, consistent with South Carolina's Freedom of Information Act obligations that apply to county agencies.
Taken together, the county's digital access tools represent a practical infrastructure for civic engagement, one that treats transparency not as a courtesy but as an operational standard built into how Allendale County conducts its public business.
