Baltimore residents have until April 18 to register for Mayor Brandon M. Scott's Annual Spring Cleanup and Day of Service, a citywide beautification effort scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Scott is hosting the event alongside the Baltimore City Department of Public Works, the Department of Transportation, and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs. The cleanup invites residents, neighborhood groups, volunteer groups, and community associations to participate across Baltimore's neighborhoods simultaneously.

"Cleanup days are my favorite days of the year, because they're an opportunity for all of us to come together and take pride in our neighborhoods," Scott said. "The Spring Cleanup helps us make Baltimore cleaner, greener, and more beautiful as we prepare for warmer weather. I encourage residents in every neighborhood to roll up your sleeves and join your neighbors in this citywide effort."

Registration opened March 16 and runs through April 18. Residents and groups can sign up by calling 311 or visiting the city's website. Those who register their cleanup activities can also request debris collection at the time of registration; city trucks will be scheduled to visit designated locations on cleanup day, with bag pickup beginning after 1 p.m.

DPW Director Matthew Garbark framed the event as more than a single-day operation. "The Mayor's Spring Cleanup underscores the critical role that collaboration plays in building clean, healthy neighborhoods," Garbark said. "When residents, volunteers, and city agency employees work side by side, we strengthen not only our communities but also the relationships that support them year-round."

The April 25 cleanup is part of a broader initiative Scott has described as the Charm City Cleanup Initiative, an inaugural four-month effort to coordinate week-by-week cleanups across every Baltimore neighborhood using 311 service requests to direct city resources. Scott has encouraged residents to submit 311 requests before their scheduled cleanup days so that agencies including Public Works, Recreation and Parks, Transportation, and Clean Corps can prioritize locations accordingly.

"Charm City Cleanup is an opportunity for all Baltimoreans to roll up their sleeves and show love to their neighborhoods," Scott said. "Baltimore has the best Public Works, Rec and Parks, Transportation and Clean Corps workers in the nation, but keeping our city beautiful can't just be up to them."

Groups or individuals interested in sponsoring a predetermined mayoral site location can find that option through the city's registration portal. The April 25 event date continues a tradition the city has maintained for several years; a comparable cleanup was held April 27, 2024, under the same format and hours.
