Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders Travel to Face Edisto Cougars in Softball

The Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders carried a 2-1 record into Edisto territory Monday night for a 7:00 p.m. softball matchup against the Cougars, who entered the contest winless at 0-2 and looking for answers after a rough start to the season.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt arrived at Edisto's field off a wild two-game stretch. The Red Raiders went scoreless in one outing, then turned around and dismantled Hardeeville by a 19-0 margin, never allowing the Hurricanes to put a run on the board. That shutout win was Bamberg-Ehrhardt's third consecutive victory over Hardeeville.

Edisto, meanwhile, absorbed a brutal 15-13 loss to Hampton County on Friday. The Cougars gave up a nine-run second inning to the Hurricanes, a deficit that proved too large to overcome despite Edisto's 13-run output. It was the third straight loss for the Cougars against Hampton County, extending a troubling streak heading into this matchup.

The series history between these two programs adds real stakes to the meeting. Bamberg-Ehrhardt and Edisto had split their matchups at exactly 4-4 since March 2016, a stretch that includes a 6-16 road loss for the Red Raiders back in April 2017, a pair of losses in March 2019, and a 1-0 home win in May 2021. The most recent meeting, on March 19, 2025, went decisively to Bamberg-Ehrhardt by a 20-0 score, and one of these teams was set to break the 4-4 deadlock Monday night.

That 20-0 result loomed large over the rematch. Whether Edisto arrived with adjustments after that lopsided defeat, or whether Bamberg-Ehrhardt's momentum carried through, the series tie would not survive the night.
