Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s trip to Green Sea Floyds carried more weight than a typical non-conference game. With postseason qualifiers on the calendar and the state tournament window closing in, the Red Raiders’ Wednesday road test served as a snapshot of where the Bamberg County program stood after a season of long winning runs and a recent stumble.

The matchup was set for 5 p.m. and paired two teams with winning records. Bamberg-Ehrhardt entered at 16-6 overall, 2-0 in region play and first in A Region 4. Green Sea Floyds came in at 13-6, 4-4 in region play and fourth in A Region 6. On paper, it was the kind of game that could tell both teams more about their postseason readiness than a routine early spring contest.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s numbers showed a team that had done damage at the plate while also keeping opponents in check. The Red Raiders had scored 193 runs and allowed 72, a balance that reflected both a productive lineup and enough pitching to stay in games. Their schedule showed they had handled the road well, with a 7-2 away record, along with a 7-2 mark at home and a 2-2 record on neutral fields. R. Williams was listed as the head coach.

Green Sea Floyds brought a similar profile into the matchup. The Trojans had scored 160 runs and allowed 84, with a 7-2 home record and a 6-3 mark away from home. They had also been trending well, winning five of their previous six games entering late April, including a 14-7 win over Georgetown on April 29 and a 9-5 victory at South Columbus on April 22.

For Bamberg-Ehrhardt, the road game came at a telling moment. The Red Raiders had won nine straight before a late-April skid, falling to Orangeburg Prep 7-1 on April 27 and to Lexington 6-0 on April 30. That three-game losing streak made Wednesday’s date less about padding the record and more about showing whether the team was stabilizing at the right time.

The South Carolina High School League’s 2025-26 calendar lists softball qualifiers for May 2 and first playoff qualifiers for May 6, with the 2026 state championships scheduled for May 26-30. Against Green Sea Floyds, Bamberg-Ehrhardt was not just finishing the regular-season stretch. It was testing whether its offense, pitching and response to adversity were lining up for the games that matter most.
