Sheila Williams, a resident of Denmark, was laid to rest Saturday at Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church, drawing members of the Denmark and Bamberg County community together to honor her memory. Her passing was announced March 26 in The Times and Democrat, the regional paper of record for obituary notices across the Lowcountry.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 28, at 1:00 p.m. at Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church, 5264 Capernaum Road, Denmark, with interment following in the church cemetery.
The evening before, on Friday, March 27, family and friends attended a public viewing from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Carroll Mortuary Denmark Chapel, 1646 Church Street. Carroll Mortuary is handling all arrangements.
Tributes began appearing online within hours of the announcement. Nathaniel Brooks wrote on Williams's memorial guestbook on March 26: "Sheila will be miss. Always been a sweet person. Sad to see ya go,but God knows best."
