One dead, six injured in Dania Beach Fourth of July crash

A multi-vehicle crash in the 200 block of East Dania Beach Boulevard killed one person and injured six others, including two pediatric patients, in Dania Beach on the Fourth of July.

Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue said crews reached the scene shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday and found six injured people, then a seventh person was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. The injured victims, four adults and two children, were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital as trauma alerts.

Officials had not released the names of the dead person or the injured patients, and their conditions remained unknown after transport. WSVN 7News also reported that at least two children were among the injured, underscoring how quickly the holiday evening turned into a mass-casualty response on one of Dania Beach’s main roads.

East Dania Beach Boulevard carries steady local traffic through a busy part of Broward County, and a fatal crash there disrupts more than the immediate block where the collision happened. On a holiday weekend, the roadway was already dealing with beach traffic, family outings and Independence Day travel when emergency crews had to shut in on the scene and move victims to trauma care.

Investigators had not said what caused the pileup or how many vehicles were involved in total. Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles says crash reports can take up to 10 days to become available, which means more information may emerge as the case moves forward.

The crash also fits into a broader statewide toll that remains stubbornly high. Florida recorded 702,162 total crashes in 2024, including 2,962 fatal crashes and 3,184 traffic deaths, according to the state’s highway safety agency.
