SignatureCare opens 24-hour emergency center in Plano

SignatureCare Emergency Center has opened a 24-hour emergency room at 1905 Preston Road in Plano, adding another overnight care option for people in the Preston corridor and near the Frisco border area. The company describes the site as a licensed freestanding emergency room, not an urgent care clinic, with emergency care available every day of the year.

SignatureCare says the Plano location is staffed around the clock by board-certified emergency physicians, licensed nurses and trained support staff. The center also says patients can see a board-certified doctor in 10 minutes or less, though that is the company’s claim rather than an independently measured wait time.

The new facility brings CT, X-ray and onsite lab services to the Preston Road address, along with private treatment rooms and seamless transfers if a higher level of care is needed. A local directory listing also says pediatric emergency care is available and that no appointment is necessary.

For families deciding where to go in a crisis, the distinction matters. SignatureCare is positioning the Plano site as an emergency room for serious illnesses and injuries that need immediate evaluation, while the company says most insurance is accepted. Patients heading there should still check their coverage and copays, since freestanding emergency rooms operate differently from urgent care clinics and can follow different billing rules.
