Copperas Cove Easter Egg Round Up Moves Indoors Due to Bad Weather

The Copperas Cove Parks & Recreation Department relocated its annual Easter Egg Round Up to the Civic Center at 1206 W Avenue B on Saturday, pulling the event out of City Park after weather forecasts called for rain and strong winds over the weekend.

The free event ran from 10 a.m. to noon and served children 12 and younger, with a separate adaptive program available for participants ages 0 through 18 who have physical or developmental disabilities. Because indoor space at the Civic Center could not support a traditional field hunt, the department rebuilt the program around two core activities: a photo with the Easter Bunny and a basket-filling station where staff and volunteers loaded each child's basket at dedicated booths.

Vendor booths with community information and family services filled out the Civic Center floor, giving nonprofits and local organizations a secondary venue for the outreach they typically conduct at the outdoor City Park version of the event.

Organizers had encouraged families to arrive early, pointing to both the fixed indoor capacity at 1206 W Avenue B and the tight two-hour window. Families who arrived later in the morning faced a narrower stretch to complete the photo stop and basket station before staff closed out at noon. The City of Copperas Cove's official communications channels carried any last-minute updates to the schedule and entry procedure ahead of doors opening.

The indoor format held the event's core elements intact despite dropping the signature egg hunt. The adaptive programming component ran alongside the general program rather than as a separate occasion, ensuring children ages 0 through 18 with physical or developmental disabilities participated on the same Saturday morning as the broader community, not on a redirected date.
