Goochland County launches new tax and revenue services portal

Goochland County is directing taxpayers to a new online portal that lets users manage logins, file tax returns, pay taxes and update account details without starting over at the Treasurer’s Office or the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office. The county says the change is meant to improve the taxpayer online experience, and a live notice on its site says the self-service portal URL has changed and should be bookmarked for future use.

The new setup appears to do more than move a button on the county website. Avenity describes CountyOne as a taxpayer self-service system that lets users create and manage user accounts and passwords, add tax accounts, submit address changes and handle payments. The company says the platform works on standard PC browsers and mobile devices, which matters for residents who have been checking bills or paying taxes from a phone instead of making a trip to Goochland.

For day-to-day use, the county already offers online inquiry services for tax ticket information through its Treasurer’s Office, and real estate and personal property taxes can be paid by credit card through Official Payments. That means the new portal is changing an existing workflow as much as it is adding one, especially for anyone who has relied on old bookmarks or saved payment links to check a bill, review a tax ticket or finish a payment.

The Treasurer’s Office collects taxes after they are assessed by the Commissioner of the Revenue or the Assessor’s Office, so the portal will sit at the center of two of the county’s busiest tax functions. Jennifer Brown, Goochland County’s Commissioner of the Revenue, is serving a four-year term that began Jan. 1, 2024 and runs through Dec. 31, 2027. Her office lists a direct phone number of 804-556-5807, while the Treasurer’s Office can be reached at 804-556-5806.

The timing also lands in the middle of a busy filing season. Goochland County reminded businesses that Business Personal Property forms were due May 1, 2026, and the new portal gives residents and business owners another route to keep account information current. Avenity says RevenueOne Express is aimed at small and mid-sized Virginia localities and is built on RevenueOne, the company’s flagship system for commissioners of the revenue, treasurers and finance directors.
