The county’s own notices made clear the show was being treated as more than a calendar item: it came with crowd-control, parking and safety instructions tied to one of the county’s biggest holiday gatherings.

A 2026 calendar entry listed the fireworks show for July 4, 2026, from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Goochland Sports Complex, also identified as the Old High School, at 1800 Sandy Hook Road in Goochland. Earlier county alerts said fireworks would be shot off between the Goochland High and Elementary lots, with parking opening at 7 p.m. and spectators urged to arrive early because of traffic delays.

The county directed drivers to park at the County Administration Complex, the Fairground property, the Farmer’s Market and the current Goochland Elementary School in the River Road area. That parking plan reflected the scale of the event and the amount of traffic expected around the school lots and Sandy Hook Road. One county notice also said the celebration included a historic ceremony, showing the holiday program was intended as a broader community event, not just a fireworks display.
