K9 Thor helped Harris County Precinct 5 deputies uncover more than 1,700 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, THC wax, ketamine powder, marijuana and other narcotics during a search warrant execution at an apartment along FM 529 near Westgreen in Cypress. Deputies also seized more than $19,000 in cash and two firearms, and two suspects were arrested and booked into jail on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Thor alerted deputies to multiple areas inside the apartment, helping lead them to the evidence during the search tied to an investigation into a known drug dealer. The seizure of drugs, cash and guns points to more than simple possession inside a single unit. Thor is part of the Precinct 5 K-9 unit, where dogs are used to locate evidence and search for hiding persons. The office says handlers keep their dogs at home and train with them weekly, a setup that keeps the animals ready for searches like the one in Cypress.
