Brooksville man charged in bar shooting, armed carjacking case
Deputies tied a May arrest to an October ambush outside Savages Bar & Grill, where a man was shot in both legs and his truck stolen.

A Brooksville man is now facing attempted murder and carjacking charges in a shooting that jolted the East Jefferson Street corridor outside Savages Bar & Grill and left one man with gunshot wounds to both legs.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said 46-year-old Neil Roundtree Jr., born Aug. 6, 1979, was arrested May 19 at a residence in Citrus County by the United States Marshals Service and the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said warrants were issued May 6 in connection with the Oct. 25, 2025 attack in the parking lot of Savages Bar & Grill, 1691 E. Jefferson St. in Brooksville.

Investigators said the victim arrived at Tampa General Hospital-Brooksville after the ambush, telling deputies he had been robbed of his phone, wallet, necklace and keys after leaving the bar. The suspect then stole the victim’s white 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 and fled, according to the sheriff’s office.
The case moved forward months later through surveillance video from a neighboring business, witness statements, intelligence work and digital evidence, deputies said. Investigators also said a firearm recovered in an unrelated Nov. 14, 2025 case matched ammunition evidence from the Savages Bar scene, and digital forensics placed Roundtree in the area at the time of the shooting.
The sheriff’s office said Roundtree’s criminal record includes 27 felony convictions. The warrants list charges of attempted second-degree murder, armed carjacking and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, along with drug, paraphernalia and fleeing-related charges, including leaving the scene of an accident and possession of paraphernalia. He was being held without bond at the Citrus County Detention Facility while awaiting extradition to Hernando County.
The shooting was first reported shortly after 2 a.m. on Oct. 25, 2025, when deputies were called to Savages Bar & Grill on East Jefferson Street. Florida business records show Savages Bar and Grill, LLC was filed on Oct. 22, 2021, underscoring that the location has been part of the Brooksville nightlife scene for several years. With the arrest now in hand, deputies said the case remains active as detectives continue to build on the forensic record that led them to Roundtree.
