Spring Hill breakup turns into kidnapping, aggravated battery charges

Jose Alberto Vazquez Carrasco was booked July 10 after the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said a breakup in Spring Hill escalated into kidnapping and aggravated battery. Investigators said the victim had ended the relationship before Vazquez Carrasco confronted her at her workplace and forced her into his vehicle.

In the sheriff's account, Vazquez Carrasco grabbed the victim by the hair, held a knife to her neck and moved her from the confrontation into the vehicle. The case was treated as a domestic-related felony arrest in Spring Hill, turning a relationship dispute into a public-safety matter for Hernando County deputies and prosecutors.

The Sheriff's Office press-release index lists the arrest as "Spring Hill Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Aggravated Battery," and the agency's media releases are issued through its Office of Community Relations in Brooksville.
