Community tips helped York County deputies make three arrests after residents reported suspicious activity in York, Nebraska, including trespassing and a suspicious vehicle. Deputies said the calls came in April 6 and led them to two separate incidents that quickly escalated into arrests and seizures.

In the first incident, deputies responded to reports of trespassing and an illegal encampment. That investigation led to the arrest of 51-year-old Chadwick Betts, whom authorities described as a convicted felon. Deputies said Betts was found in possession of a deadly weapon and marijuana, turning a neighborhood complaint into a weapons and drug case.

Later the same night, deputies were called to a suspicious vehicle. That stop led to the arrest of 40-year-old Tiffany Jones on outstanding warrants and drug-related charges. Authorities said suspected fentanyl, marijuana and a knife were found during the vehicle stop, giving deputies a second clear example of how a citizen tip can be verified in the field.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said residents should report suspicious activity through the non-emergency line or 911. The office’s message was plain: when people call in concerns early, deputies can get to a scene before a trespassing complaint, an encampment, or a vehicle stop turns into a larger public-safety problem.
