Humboldt County Jail Logs 5 Felonies, 9 Misdemeanors on April 2
A Eureka man booked on a bench warrant faced five felony theft counts, each paired with an allegation that he committed the crimes while already free on bail.

Daniel Edward Batten arrived at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on a bench warrant, facing five felony counts of petty theft with prior convictions, each accompanied by a separate allegation that the crime occurred while he was already free on bail. Eureka Police Officer Sheldon processed the arrest in the early morning hours of April 1, and Batten's booking record rolled into the April 2 tally carrying one of the more layered charge sheets of the day: the five PC 666.1 theft felonies, a felony count for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, five PC 12022.1(b) bail-enhancement allegations, and a misdemeanor for peeping while loitering.
That single booking anchored a day that produced 14 total entries at the facility: five classified as felony cases and nine as misdemeanors, with no infractions. Four agencies contributed across the county, with arrests originating from the Eureka Police Department, the Arcata Police Department, the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, and the Fortuna Police Department.
Mer-Mery Bates came in on a Ramey warrant, a judge-issued authorization obtained before police made contact, on two felony charges: first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. HCSO Deputy Kotterman booked Bates shortly after noon on April 1. A Ramey warrant generally indicates prosecutors had assembled enough evidence to approach a judge for authorization rather than relying on probable cause at the scene.

On the misdemeanor side, Vincent Michael Potts was released on his own recognizance after HCSO Deputy T. Smith booked him on two DUI counts and two high-BAC enhancements. Julie Lynn Santibanez, facing a felony grand theft charge logged by HCSO Jail staff under Deputy T. Barnwell, was booked and released the same day under a time-served designation. Fortuna Police Officer B. Taylor made two nighttime arrests: Carlos Eduardo Perez on a probation violation late on April 1, and Rachael Khalil in the first hours of April 2. Eureka PD Officer Stubbs booked Christopher Daniel Halloway on a trespassing charge as a fresh arrest, while Arcata PD Officer Vandunk brought in William Randolph Master on a drug paraphernalia misdemeanor, releasing him on his own recognizance.
Booking records reflect arrests and processing at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility at a specific moment and do not indicate guilt. The Humboldt County Superior Court's criminal docket and the District Attorney's filings are the authoritative records for charge outcomes, bail rulings, and case dispositions.
