Iron Mountain VA Hosts Four Northern Wisconsin Enrollment Events in April
The Iron Mountain VA is dispatching enrollment staff to four northern Wisconsin sites on April 15-16, targeting veterans newly eligible under the PACT Act who may not know they qualify.

The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain is sending its enrollment team into northern Wisconsin next week, spreading across four sites over two days to give veterans in the North Woods a chance to sign up for VA health care without making the long drive to the U.P.
The schedule runs Wednesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 16. On Wednesday, enrollment staff will be at Woodruff Town Hall, 1418 1st Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., then move to VFW Post 3143, 120 W. Park Street in Rhinelander, from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday's stops are the Veterans Resource Center, 418 W. Pine Street in Eagle River, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Land O' Lakes Town Hall, 4331 County Road B, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The OGJVAMC specifically tied the timing of the outreach push to recent federal eligibility changes, most notably the PACT Act, which broadened VA health care access for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic hazards. For many northern Wisconsin veterans, those changes may mean they now qualify for care they previously could not access, including expanded coverage for hearing aids and eyeglasses in certain cases and a tiered medication co-payment structure that can reduce out-of-pocket costs.
Veterans planning to attend should bring their DD-214 discharge paperwork and a photo ID. Enrollment staff at each site will be prepared to walk through eligibility questions, complete enrollment applications on the spot, and review benefit details with anyone who needs guidance.
The four-city circuit reflects a persistent reality for VA health care delivery across this region: the OGJVAMC's service area stretches through rural counties where a trip to Iron Mountain can mean hours of driving each way. In-person enrollment events have become one of the facility's primary tools for closing the gap between eligible veterans and the care they are entitled to, particularly as benefit changes generate new eligibility that does not automatically translate into enrollment.
Veterans who cannot make any of the four dates can still contact the OGJVAMC public affairs office directly to ask about enrollment assistance or to arrange an alternative appointment.
