Team Daisy Wins NCA National Title in Mini Cheer Competition
Ten first- through fourth-graders from Top Dawg Cheer & Tumbling outperformed 12 rival squads at NCA Nationals to claim the Mini 1.1 Prep national title.

Ten young athletes from Top Dawg Cheer & Tumbling made Jim Wells County proud last week, winning the National Champion title at the NCA Nationals competition as members of Team Daisy, the gym's Mini 1.1 Prep cheerleading squad.
Competing against 12 other teams in what the program described as a highly competitive division, Team Daisy delivered a performance strong enough to claim first place and earn the National Cheerleaders Association national title, the crowning achievement of an already dominant season.
The victory fits a clear pattern. Across six competitions this season, Team Daisy finished first four times and second twice, never dropping lower than the runner-up spot. The team accomplished every goal set before the season began, a milestone the program credited to consistent hard work and growth both individually and as a group.
Head coach Makayla Johnson enters the record books with this win. Now a three-time NCA National Champion, Johnson has collected one title as a competing athlete and two as a coach. In her second consecutive year leading the program at Top Dawg Cheer & Tumbling, she has been credited with bringing both growth and genuine care to every athlete she coaches. Co-coach Chloe Wiedemann worked alongside Johnson throughout the season.
The roster of 10 athletes spans first through fourth grade, and three of those athletes joined Top Dawg Cheer & Tumbling for the first time this season. Integrating new members while sustaining a championship-level performance across six competitions reflects a team that built depth as it built wins.
The season has one chapter remaining. Team Daisy is scheduled to compete at the US Finals in Galveston, Texas, on April 11, where the squad will have a final opportunity to close out the year on the same high note that defined it.
