13-year-old arrested after car strikes Aurora home, injures woman
A 13-year-old was arrested after police say a car tore into an Aurora home, seriously injuring a woman inside and leaving a large hole in the structure.

A 13-year-old was arrested after police say a vehicle slammed into an Aurora home, seriously injuring a woman inside and leaving the house visibly torn open. The crash also raised immediate questions about access and supervision, because investigators have not said how the child got behind the wheel.
Aurora police said the wreck happened just before 9 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at 1101 N. Jamaica St. near East 11th Avenue. Officers said the vehicle hit the home, injuring one woman inside, while a second woman in the house was not hurt.
The injured woman was taken to a hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. Police said the driver fled on foot after the crash and was later taken into custody. The juvenile has been charged with hit-and-run resulting in serious bodily injury and careless driving resulting in bodily injury.
Police have not publicly identified the 13-year-old and have not released the child’s gender. They also have not said how the teen gained access to the vehicle, and the circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
Images and descriptions of the scene showed significant damage to the structure, including a large hole where the vehicle struck the home. For the family inside, the impact turned a quiet morning into an emergency response on a residential block near East 11th Avenue.
Aurora is Colorado’s third-largest city, with a population of more than 398,000, and its police department has long emphasized neighborhood and community relationships as part of its public safety strategy. That broader context now frames a case that is likely to draw scrutiny not only over the crash itself, but over how a child ended up in control of a car and what accountability will follow.
