Nye County arrest follows machete stabbing in Pahrump, two injured

A machete attack on North Leslie Street in Pahrump left two elderly people injured Friday night before Nye County deputies arrested Aaron Drennan the next morning and cleared the roadway near Wilson and West. Sheriff’s officials said the suspect was in custody and no further incidents were reported.

Dispatch received the call at about 9:40 p.m. Friday, May 1, after violence broke out in the Pahrump area. Deputies found an elderly man with a severe abdominal laceration, and Mercy Air flew him to Las Vegas for treatment. An elderly woman was also injured when she was struck in the head with the machete handle and was taken to Desert View Hospital.

Investigators identified the suspect as Aaron Drennan and said he was armed with a machete during the attack. The arrest came Saturday morning, May 2, after the earlier night attack, giving deputies a swift turnaround as they secured the scene and reopened the roadway near Wilson and West.

The case now moves into the county’s court system, where the Nye County District Attorney’s Office says its victim-services function keeps victims informed about case status, provides restitution assistance and connects them with community resources.
