Nye County Commissioners Set March 17 Meeting With Public Viewing Options
Nye County commissioners meet March 17 to vote on a countywide water protection plan and consider declaring a Pahrump property a public nuisance.

The Nye County Board of Commissioners will convene March 17 with a packed agenda that includes a potential vote on a countywide water protection plan, a public nuisance declaration for a Pahrump property, and decisions on the county's fiscal footing for the remainder of the year.
At 10:00 a.m., commissioners will hear a presentation of the 2025 Community Source Water Protection Plan for Public Water Systems in Nye County, followed by deliberation on whether to approve, amend and approve, or reject Nye County Resolution No. 2026-02, which would formally adopt the plan. The water protection plan covers public water systems across the county and represents a planning effort to safeguard the sources that feed those systems.
Also at 10:00 a.m., the board will take up Item 8, a possible action to declare the building at 1360 E. Bruce Street in Pahrump a public nuisance consisting of an unsafe, unhealthful building that poses a public health and safety hazard. If the board makes that declaration, it would then establish a reasonable timeframe for property owner Joshua Ware to respond, though the agenda text describing what specific steps Ware would be required to take was not fully available in advance of the meeting.
The agenda also includes a vote on whether to amend and adopt, or reject, the Amended Fiscal Year 2026 Public Safety Sales and Use Tax plan for Nye County. On the Treasurer's docket is Item 18, which asks commissioners to acknowledge a balance in the Flint Scholarship Nevada State Bank account and to create criteria and a process for accepting scholarship applications and awarding funds.

County Manager staff will present under Item 19, asking for direction on the current fiscal status and budget projections and next steps through the end of the fiscal year. Animal Services will ask commissioners under Item 20 to approve filling a Kennel Assistant position before July 1.
The meeting is open to the public and can also be viewed online at nyecountynv.gov, though viewers should expect a 30 to 40 second delay between the in-person proceedings and the video feed. Those wishing to speak during the meeting may use telephone keypads to notify Administration of their intent. The meeting is also viewable via Granicus.
Support documentation for all agenda items is available at the County Manager's Office, located at 101 Radar Road in Tonopah and at 2100 E. Walt Williams Drive in Pahrump. Additional posting locations include the Amargosa Valley Community Center at 821 E. Amargosa Farm Rd., the Beatty Community Center at 100 South A Ave., Gabbs Town Hall at 503 Brucite St., and the Round Mountain Community Center at 650 Civic Dr.
