Deputies from the Nye County Sheriff’s Office found an adult male unresponsive behind Dotty’s at the Pahrump Valley Junction shopping center near Albertsons after a dispatch call at approximately 8 a.m. on Feb. 19. Paramedics transported the man to Desert View Hospital, and he was later pronounced deceased.

Sheriff Joe McGill said, “Deputies responded and located the male who was unresponsive.” The scene description reported the caller found the person lying in what responders described as a pool of blood; deputies secured the area and detectives began a probe into the circumstances.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident as a suspicious death, treating it as a potential homicide because the manner or cause of death is unknown based on an initial review. An autopsy at the Clark County Coroner’s Office was expected to be completed today to help guide the investigation; officials have not released an identification for the deceased pending coroner confirmation and family notification.

Investigators have asked the public for help locating potential witnesses. The sheriff’s office posted that “it is believed the vehicle is a black Hyundai or Kia sedan occupied by 2 people.” McGill confirmed that the two occupants “are not considered suspects in the case, only witnesses, as it is believed they possibly drove by the scene and could have seen something.” Detectives are seeking anyone who saw a black Hyundai or Kia sedan in the Pahrump Valley Junction area the morning of Feb. 19 to come forward.

This Dotty’s investigation is separate from other ongoing appeals from the sheriff’s office; for example, deputies have also requested help identifying a motorcyclist accused of felony evading who reportedly fled multiple times at over 100 mph through the center of Pahrump and whose online posts included taunts such as “You can’t catch me.” The sheriff’s office said it will provide updates after the coroner’s autopsy and as detectives develop additional leads.
