Nye County Treasurer’s Pahrump office closes for subfloor repairs May 7 and 11
Pahrump taxpayers faced two office closures for subfloor repairs, but check and money-order payments still could be left in the side drop box.

Pahrump property-tax service was interrupted twice this month when the Nye County Treasurer’s Office closed to the public on Thursday, May 7, and Monday, May 11, while crews made subfloor repairs.
The county said residents still could make payments by check, money order or cashier’s check using a secure drop box on the side of the building. Officials specifically warned not to place cash in the box. Online payment and inquiry options also remained available while the office was closed.
The Pahrump office is at 170 N. Floyd Street, Suite 2, Pahrump, NV 89060, and the Treasurer’s Office phone number is (775) 751-4200. Normal public hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a noon-to-12:30 p.m. closure, and Fridays are closed. The county said the office was expected to reopen after May 11.

Raelyn Powers serves as Nye County treasurer, and the office handles real property tax collection for Tonopah, Pahrump, Beatty, Gabbs, Round Mountain and Amargosa, along with the Nye County School District and the State of Nevada. That makes the temporary shutdown more than a routine building fix in Pahrump. It affects the local office that processes tax-related transactions for much of the county’s property tax base.
Nye County says more than 59,000 property tax bills are mailed each year. Bills are prepared and mailed by August 1, and property taxes are due on the third Monday in August. For those who still need to pay in person, cash is accepted only at the Pahrump and Tonopah office locations. Money orders, personal checks and cashier’s checks may be mailed to either location, giving taxpayers a fallback while the Pahrump counter stayed closed for repairs.
