Unidentified Pahrump woman arrested after domestic call, Highway 160 stop
Deputies arrested an unidentified Pahrump woman after a domestic call led to a traffic stop on Highway 160; she faces multiple charges including presumptive meth possession and DUI.

Deputies with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office arrested an unidentified woman after responding to a domestic-in-progress call that culminated in a traffic stop on Highway 160. The evening incident on Jan. 30 began when dispatch told officers the suspect had left the scene and was seen at Jackpot Joanie’s casino before driving southbound on the highway.
A deputy initiated the stop after observing the vehicle’s expired registration. Inside the car deputies located a crystalline substance that tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine. The arrest report states the woman refused to exit the vehicle when asked multiple times and, while being removed, kicked a deputy in the knee. According to the report, she told officers she had used methamphetamine a few hours earlier.
Investigators obtained a warrant for a blood draw, which was executed at Desert View Hospital. After the hospital procedure the woman was transported to the Nye County Detention Center for booking. The arrest report lists the charges as possession of a controlled substance (a crystalline substance inside the vehicle tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine), obstructing a public officer, battery on a peace officer, driving under the influence, and driving with expired plates.
The Nye County Sheriff’s Office is participating in the multiagency Joining Forces impaired driver campaign. Nye County Sheriff Joe McGill commented on the effort, saying, “Drinking and driving is a major factor in many crashes and results in fatalities oftentimes, so that’s the reason why we participate in this,” and, “We are absolutely committed to the entire project.” The campaign aims to concentrate enforcement and public messaging around impaired driving across the region.

For Pahrump residents the arrest underlines two recurring safety concerns: domestic disturbances that spill into public roadways and impaired or drug-involved driving on Highway 160, a primary artery through town. Motorists who travel the route between casinos and residential neighborhoods often note heavier evening traffic; local law enforcement activity tied to impaired-driving enforcement can affect traffic flow and response times, and may result in checkpoints or increased patrols during campaign windows.
Several details remain unreported publicly. The sheriff’s office has not released the woman’s name or booking information, and the crystalline substance has been described only as presumptively positive for methamphetamine pending confirmatory lab results. The extent of any injury to the deputy beyond an alleged knee kick and whether any citations accompanied the expired registration stop were also not detailed in the arrest report excerpts released so far.
The case will move through county booking and the courts; residents can expect Nye County to continue Joining Forces enforcement activities aimed at reducing impaired driving. Those with information about the incident or related public-safety concerns may contact the sheriff’s office for updates on charges, court dates, and the status of forensic testing.
