Quitman County Homemaker and Caregiver Beatrice Dunson Dies at 85

Beatrice "Bea" Dunson, a devoted homemaker and caregiver born in Quitman County, died peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the age of 85. She had spent her entire life centered on family, and those who knew her remembered a home defined not by its walls but by the steadfast, gentle presence she kept within them.

Born February 20, 1941 in Quitman County, Mississippi, Dunson dedicated herself to the well-being and comfort of those around her throughout her life. Her obituary, prepared by Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, describes her home as "a place of warmth and kindness, reflecting the deep compassion and selflessness she extended to her family and friends."

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 19, at 11:00 a.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home at 340 Highway 35 North in Batesville. The family received friends for one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at Longtown Cemetery in Crenshaw, Mississippi.

Dunson is survived by eight children: Katherine, Mitchell, Tony, Sheila, Teresa, Cynthia, Patricia, and Angie, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Dunson.
