Sacramento Man, 21, Surrenders to Police in SF Marina District Assault
William Lyons, 21, of Sacramento walked into SF County Jail at 8 a.m. Monday and surrendered in a Marina District assault that put two people in the hospital.

William Lyons walked into San Francisco County Jail at around 8 a.m. Monday and surrendered without incident, ending a weeks-long search for a suspect in a February assault in the Marina District that landed two people in the hospital.
Lyons, 21, of Sacramento was booked on suspicion of assault likely to produce great bodily injury, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Information about his bail and a first court appearance was not immediately available.
The investigation leading to Lyons's surrender relied heavily on the public. After the February assault, investigators released images and asked for help identifying people of interest. With assistance from the public, police said they were able to identify two men. Authorities later determined that one of those men was no longer considered a person of interest, while developing probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for Lyons.

Authorities have not released additional details about the victims or a possible motive, and the case remains under investigation.
