Dozens of bicycle-riding teens surrounded a car on the 300 block of Jefferson Street in the Marina District and battered two people while leaving the Red Bull Formula 1 Showrun, eyewitness Isaac Auerbach told local media. Auerbach said one teen “decides to grope one of my friend's breasts,” and the group then attacked his party and damaged their vehicle.

San Francisco police provided a preliminary statement outlining their response. “On 02/21/2026 at approximately 5:01 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to the 300 block of Jefferson Street regarding a battery and vandalism. Officers were advised that a group of juveniles had battered two victims and vandalized a vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and met with two victims. One victim was suffering from injuries associated with a possible assault. The victim declined further medical attention. A preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were approached by multiple subjects on bicycles. The subjects engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim. The victim attempted to leave the area in his vehicle when the subjects followed him. When the victim was inside his vehicle, the subjects battered the victim and began vandalizing his car.”

Auerbach provided a running account of what happened as the car tried to leave Marina Boulevard after the Showrun. He said the assaulted passenger “then turns around and throws a drink at him.” Auerbach added, “And another one rolls up on me, spits in my face. Then the first guy that rolled up on me, socks me in the face and they just start destroying my car.” He described the aftermath in detail: “The car had broken glass, visible damage and even a shoeprint left behind.”

Multiple outlets reported that a social-media video of the incident has circulated and that SFPD has included that footage in its investigation. Police so far described the people who attacked the victims as a “group of juveniles” and “multiple subjects on bicycles”; Auerbach and other witnesses repeatedly used the term “dozens” to describe the number involved. No arrests or suspect identifications were reported in the preliminary statement or in media accounts.

The attack is the latest crowd-safety concern tied to the high-profile Red Bull Showrun on Marina Boulevard, as neighborhood observers and online posts flagged additional complaints about crowd behavior during the event. One victim in the car, Auerbach, expressed broader frustration about the pattern: “All these kids are just looking for trouble,” he said. “They want to hurt people. They want to cause trouble. It's ridiculous. And it's getting really out of hand.” He added, “I still am a little shook up about it to be honest, but again, I'm just lucky that me and my friends are all okay.”

SFPD investigators continue to work the case, reviewing the social-media video and interviewing witnesses; they have not announced arrests or charges. The department has advised anyone with footage or information from the 300 block of Jefferson Street around 5:01 p.m. on Feb. 21 to contact investigators as the inquiry remains open.
