CBI Issues Alert for Missing Cortez Teen, Last Seen Headed to Farmington

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued an alert Sunday for Kleo Azure, a 16-year-old last seen leaving Cortez around midnight and possibly heading toward Farmington, New Mexico.

Azure was last seen departing Cortez near midnight March 23 in a grey 2008 Lexus ES 350 bearing Colorado license plate CRK-H62. Authorities believe she may be traveling south across the state line into Farmington, putting her on a route that cuts through the Four Corners region along U.S. 160 or U.S. 491.

The alert was activated after local law enforcement notified the Colorado Bureau of Investigation about the disappearance and provided information about the circumstances. CBI then forwarded the alert to participating radio stations, television stations, and other media outlets across Colorado.

Anyone who spots Azure or the grey Lexus is urged to call 911 immediately or contact the Cortez Police Department directly at 970-565-8441. The vehicle's Colorado plate, CRK-H62, is the most specific identifier available to the public.

Cortez sits in Montezuma County at the western edge of Colorado, roughly 45 miles from Farmington via Highway 160. The route is heavily traveled and passes through Shiprock, New Mexico before reaching Farmington, meaning anyone along that corridor may be in a position to assist.

Azure's case is among a string of recent missing-person alerts issued by CBI involving young people from the Four Corners area. As recently as February 25, another Cortez teenager, Orange Dior, was reported missing after being last seen walking eastbound alone on West Second Street.

Anyone with a missing loved one is asked to contact local law enforcement to file an initial report, as local law enforcement must be notified before the CBI Missing Persons Unit can become involved.
