Farmington Celebrates New 5,400-Square-Foot Market Pavilion at Gateway Park
Farmington's new 5,400-sq-ft Market Pavilion at Gateway Park opens today, giving the Growers Market a permanent home after years in a visitor center parking lot.
Farmington and San Juan County officially marked the completion of a new 5,400-square-foot Market Pavilion at Gateway Park this afternoon, cutting the ribbon on a facility the City of Farmington describes as capable of supporting indoor and outdoor events "for years to come."
The ribbon-cutting ran from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Gateway Park site in the McGee Park area, where city and county officials gathered to open the multipurpose pavilion designed to host the Growers Market and other markets and special events. The pavilion is equipped with a serving kitchen and restrooms.
The new structure addresses a long-standing practical problem: the Growers Market has been held in the parking lot of the visitor's center, an arrangement that left vendors and shoppers exposed to the elements. According to the City of Farmington's project page, the pavilion will enable numerous user groups and markets to operate without being impacted by the weather, provide better visibility to events and programs, and create the potential for concurrent entertainment at the adjoining amenities within Gateway Park.

At 5,400 square feet, the facility is large enough to accommodate multiple simultaneous uses. The city's project description notes it is designed to support both indoor and outdoor events, positioning it as a year-round venue rather than a seasonal workaround.
The City of Farmington lists the project as completed on its official website. Those interested in reserving the pavilion for events can find inquiry information through the City of Farmington's parks pages.
