San Juan County Seniors Shine at New Mexico Basketball All-Star Weekend
Chenoa Parrish scored 14 points for the Red All-Stars and Farmington teammate Caris Dale scored 10 for the other side as San Juan County seniors filled both rosters.
Farmington senior Chenoa Parrish scored 14 points to power the Red All-Stars past the Green squad 69-66 in the girls game at the Rio Rancho Events Center, headlining a March 20-21 All-Star Weekend in which San Juan County programs placed multiple seniors on New Mexico's top senior showcase stage.
Parrish's output was the high mark for the county, but Farmington's presence cut across both rosters. Teammate Caris Dale posted 10 points for the Green All-Stars, giving the Scorpions a split-roster showing in a girls game settled by three points.
The New Mexico Red vs. Green All-Star Weekend drew the state's top senior talent across both boys and girls competitions. For players from Farmington, Kirtland Central, and Navajo Prep, earning an invitation represented more than a ceremonial honor; college recruiters attend these events specifically to evaluate prospects in a competitive, neutral setting, making the weekend a potentially consequential appearance for seniors still weighing their options after graduation.

Kirtland Central's girls program, which closed the season with a dominant postseason run, had multiple seniors earn spots at the weekend. Their presence alongside Farmington and Navajo Prep participants reflected the depth San Juan County has built across programs, not concentrated in a single school. Seeing three county programs on the same All-Star stage is a measure of how broadly the region has developed basketball talent.
With Rio Rancho in the rearview, the county's athletic calendar shifts fully into spring mode. Tennis, softball, and track are underway, and coaches will soon pivot toward offseason recruiting and program-building. For the seniors who competed March 20-21, the All-Star appearance is a fitting final chapter on careers built in gyms across San Juan County.
