James River Senior Center hosts community carnival at fairgrounds

The James River Senior Center will bring its 6th Annual JRSC Community Carnival to the Stutsman County Fairgrounds in Jamestown on July 18, with proceeds set to benefit the senior center’s programs and services. The event is open to the public and begins at 12:00 p.m. CDT.

The carnival is being held at the fairgrounds at 3325 83rd Ave SE, a site that already anchors some of the county’s biggest community events. Its placement there gives the senior center a chance to draw families, older adults and volunteers into one place for an afternoon built around both fundraising and connection.

Planned activities include games, prizes, bouncy houses, a petting zoo, bike raffles, a kiddie train, food vendors, face painting and balloon animals. The mix is aimed at bringing children and grandparents through the same gates, while also giving the center a visible way to raise support for the services it has offered in Jamestown since 1967.

The senior center has also been adjusting to its new location at 1009 13th St NE in Jamestown, and it is asking attendees to RSVP at 701-252-2882. That makes the carnival more than a one-day gathering: it is also a chance for residents to reconnect with an institution that has served the community for nearly six decades and continues to rely on local turnout.

The event’s timing at the fairgrounds adds to its practical value for the center. A public turnout of families, seniors and volunteers can help shore up the center’s fundraising base while keeping its name in front of the people most likely to use its services, donate or lend a hand later.
