A phone call claiming a bomb had been planted inside the Egyptian Theatre at 328 Main Street sent emergency crews flooding onto Park City's Main Street on Saturday, forcing the evacuation of businesses and shutting down the corridor for nearly two hours before authorities declared the all-clear.

Summit County Dispatch received the call at approximately 12:22 p.m., according to the Park City Police Department. Officers and Park City Fire District units moved immediately, entering businesses along Main Street and Swede Alley to order evacuations. Fire trucks and road cones blocked access at Swede Alley and at the top of Main Street, while much of upper Main Street was effectively closed during the response.

The Eating Establishment, a longtime restaurant on Main Street, was in the middle of a busy lunch service when police and fire representatives walked through the door. General manager Melissa Peretti described the timing bluntly: "Full. I had a wait going." The order left no room for deliberation. "Everyone had to leave immediately," she said. Staff and diners joined others watching the unfolding scene from outside the evacuation zone.

The response grew in scale through the early afternoon. By 1:44 p.m., hazmat and bomb squad teams were preparing to enter the Egyptian Theatre, joining K-9 units trained in explosive detection that had already begun sweeping the building and surrounding areas. The Park City Fire District maintained a heavy presence throughout, and the Utah Transit Authority also responded with a canine unit.

The searches turned up nothing. "The building and surrounding areas have now been cleared by K-9 units trained in explosive detection, and nothing suspicious was located," the Park City Police Department said in a statement. An all-clear was announced at 2:17 p.m., and Main Street reopened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic shortly after. Bomb squad officials formally confirmed no findings at 2:19 p.m.

Lt. Danielle Snelson of the Park City Police Department confirmed the incident remains under investigation. The identity of the caller and whether charges will be filed have not been disclosed.
