Park City Wildfire Preparedness Fair Set for June 21 at Pinebrook Park
Seven HOAs are bringing 13 wildfire experts to Pinebrook Park on June 21, just one day after Summit County's fire danger level jumped from low to moderate.

Timed almost precisely with Summit County's fire danger escalating from low to moderate on June 20, seven local homeowners associations are bringing 13 wildfire experts to Pinebrook Park on Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free preparedness fair open to all residents.
The coalition behind the event spans some of Park City's most wildfire-exposed neighborhoods: Glenwild, Pinebrook, The Colony, Jeremy Ranches, The Preserve, Quarry Mountain Ranch, and Stagecoach Estates. Angie Kell of the Glenwild Homeowners Association, whose community sits north of Kimball Junction, said the urgency extends well beyond fire season logistics. Some insurers have stopped writing policies altogether for homes on the Wasatch Back, and others are now dispatching representatives to inspect individual properties before deciding whether to renew coverage.
"We're also seeing some insurance companies wanting to come to the individual homes to assess what various mitigation efforts homeowners have done, and if they haven't done some, they will request those to be performed," Kell said. "So we're trying to be at the forefront of that, keep ahead of it, so that homeowners can retain their coverage."
The 13 experts confirmed for the fair reflect that insurance pressure directly. Johnny Cocca of the Park City Fire Department, Kathryn McMullin of Summit County Emergency Management, Brad Washa of Utah State University, and Steve Davis of Mountain Safe Insurance Consulting are among those scheduled to be on hand, with additional specialists rounding out the roster. Experts will take questions from homeowners and distribute literature and handouts on defensible space, evacuation planning, and mitigation steps that insurers are increasingly scrutinizing.
Kell confirmed the event is open to all Summit County and Park City homeowners, not just members of the seven sponsoring HOAs.

Donut Kabobs and La Lupe Taco Truck will be set up at the park, and the first 100 adults to arrive will receive $10 in food coupons. Organizers are asking attendees to RSVP by emailing glenwildrsvp@gmail.com.
Saturday's fair fits into a broader, citywide push on wildfire readiness. Park City has been targeting fuels reduction projects on Treasure Hill, Rossie Hill, and Marsac, partnering with Summit County to stand up the Western Summit County Fuels Committee, and working toward a finalized Forestry Plan through a revitalized Forestry Advisory Board. Additional public events continue through the fall, including an August 6 Community Wildfire Preparedness Fair and Certification Training at the Ledges Event Center and an October 4 session at the Summit County Library on prescribed fire and smoke management.
Residents who want to track fire conditions between now and Saturday can text SCFIRE to 91896 for updates on Summit County fire danger, red flag warnings, and prescribed burns. In a declared emergency, Park City's hotline at 435-615-5999 will carry recorded updates, and BeReadyParkCity.org will be refreshed continuously. KPCW 91.7 serves as the local broadcast emergency information source.
