Lewisburg police seek tips after multiple vehicle break-ins before sunrise
Police are asking Lewisburg residents to check cameras for a suspect linked to vehicle entries on five streets between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m.

Lewisburg residents are being asked to review doorbell cameras, home security systems and dash cameras after multiple vehicles were entered before sunrise on April 2 in several nearby neighborhoods. Buffalo Valley Regional Police said the incidents happened between about 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. along North Tenth Street, North Eleventh Street, North Fourth Street, Matlack Avenue and Maclay Avenue.
Investigators are looking for any suspicious movement during that narrow hour, when a suspect could have moved through residential blocks quickly and left little behind. Police said even small details could help identify who was responsible, especially because many of the vehicles involved were unlocked. That detail makes the case about more than solving a theft complaint; it is also a reminder that basic precautions still matter when neighborhoods are quiet and visibility is low.
The report does not say exactly what was taken, whether the vehicles were damaged or whether all of the incidents were connected. What it does show is a cluster of complaints spread across several Lewisburg streets, not a single isolated stop. In cases like this, police often rely on neighborhood video and eyewitness observations more than a traditional crime scene, because the most useful evidence may be a face, a car, a clothing detail or a plate captured by a camera before dawn.
Residents who park on those blocks or nearby streets were also reminded to lock their vehicles and remove valuables overnight. That step is especially important in tight residential areas where a person can walk or drive through quickly without drawing attention, then move on to the next block before anyone notices.
The Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department was formed on February 6, 2012, when the Lewisburg Borough Police and East Buffalo Township Police consolidated. The department, which serves Lewisburg and East Buffalo Township from 1610 Industrial Boulevard, Suite 500 in Lewisburg, says it publishes monthly reports and meeting minutes and lists Chief Daniel Embeck on its public materials.
The latest case follows another stretch of vehicle crime that rattled the same area. In 2021, police were investigating 18 break-ins in the Linntown and Lewisburg areas over two overnight periods in December, and some of those earlier incidents involved stolen valuables. That history helps explain why police are once again leaning on cameras, neighbors and ordinary prevention habits to slow another round of break-ins.
