The Vinton County Fairgrounds in McArthur will host the Heritage Skills USA Homesteading & Survival Summit 2026 over three days this spring, offering more than 70 interactive classes and demonstrations in skills ranging from blacksmithing and butchering to herbalism and wilderness survival. The event runs May 1 through May 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.

With 25 or more classes scheduled daily, the summit covers homesteading, survival skills, bushcraft, foraging, and herbalism, among other disciplines. The format is explicitly hands-on: Heritage Skills USA describes it as "3 full days of hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves, dirt-under-your-fingernails learning," positioning the event as a departure from passive seminar-style gatherings.

About 85 percent of classes are included with general admission, but some carry limited enrollment because of supplies required or the nature of the instruction. Heritage Skills USA singles out the blacksmithing course and foraging hikes as classes that "fill up very quickly," advising attendees not to delay registration once it opens. Registration is not required to attend general admission classes, but it is the only way to secure a guaranteed spot.

Class registration opened March 15 for Heritage Skills USA Network members and March 16 for the general public, following the release of the full class catalog and schedule on March 15. The registration page allows attendees to return as many times as needed to select classes for themselves or their families.

Network membership costs $25 per year and covers an entire family with no auto-renewal. Beyond early registration access and discounted admission tickets, members receive free downloads from Heritage Skills USA's digital library, including The Homestead Homeschool curriculum and Heritage Skills USA homesteading and survival guide books. That access covers titles published at the time of membership purchase as well as any added during the 12-month membership period. Members also receive discounted fees or free access to select make-and-take and ebook-included classes.

Tickets and class registration are available through the Heritage Skills USA event page. The Vinton County Fairgrounds is located on Ohio 93 in McArthur.
