Abra Named Creative Director of Camper and Camperlab, AW27 Debut
Spanish designer Abraham Ortuño, known as Abra, is the new creative director of Camper and CamperLab, with his first collection set for fall/winter 2027 and a global launch planned for June 2027.

Spanish designer Abraham Ortuño, who signs his work as Abra, has been named Creative Director of both Camper and its experimental offshoot CamperLab, the company announced 5 March 2026. In the role Ortuño will oversee creative direction across product design and brand communication for the mainline and the experimental label, and sources say his creative debut is scheduled for the Fall/Winter 2027 season.
Camper’s chief executive issued a ringing endorsement. DesignScene and Women’s Wear Daily published a statement from CEO Miguel Fluxà: “Abraham represents a new generation of creative leadership. His deep understanding of footwear, combined with a strong cultural sensibility and international perspective, makes him the ideal person to guide Camper into its next phase. We believe his vision will strengthen our design identity while opening new creative territories. We are very excited to start this new chapter together.” LinkedIn used the Catalan spelling Miquel Fluxà, so published references vary between Miguel and Miquel Fluxà.
The appointment follows the January 2026 departure of Achilles Ion Gabriel, who leaves after more than six years; his Spring–Summer 2027 collection will be his final season overseeing Camper’s designs. The change signals a planned handover of Camper’s aesthetic leadership from a collaborative model back to a single creative direction, industry posts say.
Camper’s platform has been widening: CamperLab staged its first runway at Paris men’s fashion week and expanded into apparel and accessories, and CamperLab opened a store in Paris’ Marais in March 2025. The Mallorca-based footwear house is positioning the Ortuño era as a moment to sharpen that global trajectory while drawing on the brand’s Majorcan roots.
Ortuño’s credentials are a mix of independent practice and high-profile collaborations. Born in Alicante and reported as Paris-based in industry listings, he founded the label Abra, which WWD notes began in 2019. He has collaborated with Jacquemus, JW Anderson, Loewe and Kenzo, and industry commentary credits him with helping develop notable accessory and footwear hits, including work on JW Anderson’s paw-shaped loafers and mules. Highxtar called him “one of the most interesting voices in footwear today,” and LinkedIn described him as a “secret weapon” behind hits for Jacquemus and Loewe.
Abra framed his new brief in familiar language from his runway-ready work. In DesignScene and WWD Ortuño said: “It is an incredible honor to step into the role of Creative Director for Camper and Camperlab. As a Spanish designer, Camper has always represented the pinnacle of our country’s design legacy, a brand that fearlessly balances Mediterranean pragmatism with a profound sense of play. I look forward to honoring that rich archive while introducing a new, subversive energy to both the mainline and Camperlab. We are going to push the boundaries of footwear, blending irony, craftsmanship, and contemporary culture.”
Timing details published across outlets place an unveiling of Ortuño’s new creative phase in early 2027, with a global commercial launch cited for June 2027 alongside the Fall/Winter 2027 collection. Expect his first season to translate Abra’s collage of irony, technical precision and craft into wearable Campers that aim to redefine the brand’s Mediterranean heritage and steer its next retail chapter.
