Bambu Lab releases $20 OEM exhaust kit to fix P2S venting issue
Bambu Lab released an official P2S exhaust upgrade kit costing about $20; firmware OTA 01.01.01.00 adds external-exhaust support and an air-purify function to work with the kit.

Bambu Lab has rolled out an official P2S Exhaust Upgrade Kit priced at about $20 to address persistent venting and fume-channeling concerns on the P2S family. The kit is OEM-backed and, according to Call-3D’s February 24, 2026 hands-on writeup, is supported in firmware while requiring users to 3D-print a small housing to complete the install.
Call-3D framed the release as a low-cost fix and praised Bambu Lab for supporting existing owners. Call-3D wrote, “Bambu Lab didn’t just add another accessory—they actually listened to users and solved a real pain point with the P2S exhaust system.” The outlet also reported that the kit installs on the original rear panel and that an updated rear panel version is optimized for better airflow and higher exhaust efficiency. Call-3D added, “The kit is cheap, clean, fully supported in firmware, and early adopters even get a free rear panel.”
Firmware support arrived in OTA 01.01.01.00, which explicitly lists “New support for External Exhaust Fan kit” and “New function added: Purify air at the end of printing.” The OTA notes also include “New support for tungsten carbide nozzles” and a string of functional optimizations such as resolving occasional black-screen freezes, improving nozzle-clumping detection, reducing certain noises during vibration-compensation calibration, and fixing liveview camera retrieval failures.
Practical installation details came from Call-3D’s hands-on work. “One thing to note: you have to print the housing yourself,” the article states. The author printed the housing in Bambu Lab PETG High Flow for heat resistance and split the print between a P2S and a P1S to save time. Call-3D also recommended adding an extra activated carbon filter and noted, “The printer automatically manages the P2S exhaust based on your material and settings—no custom mods or third-party tools needed.”

Community reaction has been mixed. A Reddit user, misterff1, posed a set of questions about early P2S issues and exhaust configurations: “I am considering buying a P2S and found a couple of things that I have questions about: 1. Apparently there were some issues at the start and some people regretted buying their unit? What is up with that and what issues are still remaining? 2. The P2S apparently doesn't have an exhaust fan by default and I get some mixed information online. I found an official exhaust fan kit on the wiki of Bambu, but it is no longer for sale? Also I heard people say the new 'V2' has an exhaust on the back? Can anyone enlighten me what is actually the current state?” Forum threads raise technical caveats about filter space, potential cooling degradation, and added weight to the moving head; one poster wrote that filtration and reports of warped beds are blocking them from switching from a P1S to a P2S.
Bambu Lab staff replied on the forum that the company is “actively evaluating secure and user-friendly methods to implement an active exhaust feature. Our goal is to eventually support our community by releasing detailed DIY guides or offering official modification kits. This will allow users to implement this functionality themselves while ensuring safety and performance are not compromised.”
Hands-on installs are already appearing in the community; a YouTube video titled “In this video I install the new Bambu Lab P2S Exhaust Kit and see if this $20 upgrade really makes the printer that much better” accompanies the Call-3D guide. For more information on the Call-3D writeup, the article lists sales contact hello@call-3d.com and support@call-3d.com. Key open questions remain about the kit’s parts list, distribution channels, the terms for the free rear panel offer, and measured VOC or particulate reductions with the kit alone or with added carbon filtration. Call-3D concluded, “If you have a Bambu Lab P2S, this is 100% worth doing.”
