Del Rio man arrested after barricading himself in bedroom following domestic disturbance

Police arrested Guadalupe Buenrostro Jr. early Tuesday after officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance that escalated into a barricade at a home on the 400 block of Far Hills Drive, Del Rio Police Department officials said in a press release reported by Jessica Warner.

Officers arrived at about 3:23 a.m. on Feb. 11 and made contact with a female victim outside the residence. "Police said officers made contact with a female victim outside the residence and observed visible injuries to her face, including bumps, bruises, and cuts that appeared recent," the release said.

According to local reporting, officers entered the home and conducted a safety sweep, locating Buenrostro inside a locked bedroom. "Officers were also told firearms were located inside the bedroom where Buenrostro had barricaded himself," News4SanAntonio reported. Officers announced their presence and instructed him to exit, but "he initially refused multiple commands and did not comply with requests to speak with officers."

Because of the report of firearms and the suspect's refusal to come out, police treated the incident as a barricade and requested additional units. After about 30 minutes, "police said Buenrostro exited the bedroom with his hands raised. He initially refused commands to turn around and place his hands behind his back, but officers took him into custody without further incident," the reporting noted.
