Sterling Public Library is calling for quilts and quilted items for its annual Quilt Show, with displays set throughout the building from March 1 through March 31. Organizers say entry forms are available now and that quilts must be brought to the library by Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 8:00 p.m.

Quilters of all skill levels are invited to participate. “You need not have made the quilt yourself in order to put one in our display,” the library notes, and adds that “the item does not have to be a quilt but can be a quilted table runner, wall hanging or other item.” A People’s Choice Award will be part of the show; “there will be a prize given for the People’s Choice Award.”

Sterling Public Library staff are handling entry forms in person and by email. “Entry forms are available to pick up now at the library or you can email library@sterlingcolo.com and we will email a form to you.” The library’s programming calendar also offers several opportunities this month to visit before the show opens, including a children’s tea on Monday, Feb. 9 at 2:00 p.m. and February Thursday movie nights at 5:15 p.m. for grades 6–12. Regular community gatherings such as the knit and crochet drop-in meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 5:30 p.m.

The show’s placement throughout the library aims to make quilts widely accessible to Logan County residents, including older adults and families who rely on library hours and curbside services. The library’s operations listing states curbside pick-up is available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the building open during regular hours and online services available around the clock. That accessibility matters for public health and community resilience: shared cultural events reduce social isolation, create intergenerational exchange, and broaden cultural access for residents who may face transportation, mobility, or caregiving barriers.

Organizers expect dozens of community entries based on prior years and encourage residents to contribute family heirlooms, collaborative pieces, and newly made work. Practical questions remain about limits, hanging requirements, insurance and pickup logistics; anyone planning to enter should contact the library by email for details. “Please consider sharing your beautiful quilts with the community during our show,” the library adds.

For Logan County quilters and neighbors, this is an opportunity to display craft, preserve local memory and strengthen neighborhood ties. Pick up an entry form at the library or email library@sterlingcolo.com, bring entries by Feb. 24 at 8:00 p.m., and plan to view the exhibit March 1 through March 31.
