FBI adds Kansas City murder suspect KaShawn Roper to Ten Most Wanted list
The FBI put KaShawn Roper on its Ten Most Wanted list, offering $1 million in a 2020 Kansas City murder case that has stayed open for years.

The FBI reserves its Ten Most Wanted list for fugitives it believes demand the widest possible spotlight, and KaShawn Nicola Roper’s addition signaled that investigators see a Kansas City homicide case as both unresolved and urgent. The bureau made Roper the 541st name added to the list and paired the move with a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to her arrest and conviction. Officials said the aim is to turn national publicity, federal resources, and public recognition into pressure that can move a long-running manhunt.
Roper is wanted in connection with a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, on Aug. 23, 2020. Police and FBI investigators say that during an altercation she fired multiple shots at a car, striking two women and killing 23-year-old Jazmyn Henrion. The other woman survived a shoulder injury. Kansas City police said officers responded at about 3:35 a.m. after two gunshot victims were driven by private vehicle to Research Medical Center. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Roper pointing a handgun at the vehicle as it drove away.
The case has moved through both state and federal courts. Roper was charged in state court on Sept. 10, 2020, with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. A federal arrest warrant followed on July 1, 2021, after she was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. The FBI said the listing is meant to widen the search by putting a name, face and case details in front of people who may recognize a fugitive, know a current location or have seen someone living under an assumed identity.
Investigators said Roper has ties to Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, Colorado, Georgia and South Dakota, and may have fled to Denver. The bureau said she should be considered armed and dangerous. It also said Roper has previously lived in Kansas City and released identifying details that include black hair, brown eyes, tattoos on multiple parts of her body, pierced ears, a height of 5 feet 5 inches and a weight of about 120 pounds. Local officials said the hunt remains a joint effort between the FBI Kansas City Field Office, the Kansas City Missouri Police Department and the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, with the goal of bringing accountability in a case that has already stretched across years, court filings and search efforts.
