Around 2 a.m. on Feb. 16, 2026, Fresno police officers driving by the Sierra Inn noticed heavy smoke and alerted firefighters. ABC30 recorded the scene this way: “Fresno police officers were driving by the Sierra Inn on Parkway just north of Belmont Avenue at around 2 a.m. when they saw a large cloud of smoke coming from one of the rooms.” The officers “called out fire crews,” who arrived and moved to extinguish the flames.

Fire crews contained the blaze quickly. Given that discrepancy, confirmation from the Fresno Fire Department or Fresno Police Department remains necessary to reconcile the original brief, the Instagram excerpt, and ABC30’s reporting.

Fire investigators continue to examine the scene at the Sierra Inn on Parkway just north of Belmont Avenue.
