George McKoy Jr. Arrested After Seizure of 754-gram Cocaine, 580-gram Marijuana

The Guilford County Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at 607 Garret Street in Greensboro and seized approximately 754 grams of cocaine, 580 grams of marijuana and one firearm, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reported. Authorities arrested 29-year-old George Christopher McKoy Jr. in connection with the search that concluded a narcotics-related investigation on Monday, February 9, 2026.

McKoy is charged with three felonies and is being held at the Guilford County Detention Center in Greensboro. The sheriff’s office listed the charges as "Felony Trafficking in Cocaine," "Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver (PWISD) Marijuana" and "Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon." His bond was set at $202,050 secured and his next court date is scheduled for March 9, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.

The task force operation was a collaborative effort that involved the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, the Greensboro Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration. "Sheriff Danny H. Rogers reports that on Monday, February 9, 2026, the Guilford County Narcotics Task Force concluded a narcotics-related investigation that resulted in the execution of a search warrant at 607 Garret Street in Greensboro," the sheriff’s office posted in its news release titled "News Release: 754 Grams of Cocaine Seized by Narcotics Task Force."

The sheriff’s Facebook post snapshot showed public engagement on the department’s announcement with 48 reactions, 27 comments and 14 shares. Several commenters reacted to the size of the seizure: Kaoru Lei wrote, "29 dam I thought he was much older"; Markel Martin wrote, "So a little over 1lb"; Jason Hendrix wrote, "So less than a kilo. Got it." One longer comment from Tracy Smith criticized enforcement as insufficient, saying in full, "It’s not impressive that an arrest was made, it’s alarming that this much narcotics were circulating in Guilford County in the first place. Enough to kill thousands, and it was right here the whole time. That doesn’t feel like a win, it feels like a massive failure.

When the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is bragging about how much they found inside the county, that’s not something to celebrate. It just proves how badly things were already out of control. That’s not success, that’s a system that clearly wasn’t working.

Maybe if the sheriff spent more time stopping the drugs from coming into Guilford County instead of putting on dog-and-pony shows, more lives could actually be saved."

The McKoy arrest is the most recent high-profile action by the task force following a separate January 29 operation in Whitsett at 629 Palomino Mustang Drive, where the task force seized approximately 492 grams of cocaine and five firearms and arrested 23-year-old Za’veon Malik Oakes, who was released on a $200,000 secured bond.
