Hampton Lumber to Build Major Sawmill in Allendale County

Hampton Lumber announced in 2025 that it will construct a sawmill in the Fairfax and Allendale area, marking the companys first facility on the East Coast. The firm described the project as a major capital investment that will manufacture Southern Yellow Pine framing lumber. Company officials characterized the undertaking as a multi year effort that will be brought online after construction is completed.

The announcement included employment projections that underscore the scale of the project for Allendale County. Builders and contractors are expected to be engaged in triple digit jobs during the construction phase, and the operation is projected to sustain between 125 to 140 permanent positions once the mill is running.
