Ivinson Memorial Hospital named Chartis Top 100 for 2026, seventh since 2018
Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie announced Feb. 23 it was named a 2026 Chartis Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital, a recognition the hospital said is its seventh since 2018.

Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie announced Feb. 23 that the Chartis Center for Rural Health named it to the 2026 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals; the hospital said the honor is its seventh recognition since 2018. Ivinson’s news follows a string of local and regional investments the hospital and industry observers say have expanded services for Albany County patients.
The Chartis program and its measurement approach were described in hospital materials and partner statements. Ivinson’s Feb. 25, 2025 press release notes Chartis used the Hospital Strength Index for its 2025 list, assessing eight areas: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and financial efficiency. Michael Topchik, executive director of The Chartis Center for Rural Health, wrote that the Top 100 award “elevates the very best performers and helps create a roadmap for those seeking to improve financial and operational performance while continuing to care for the communities they serve,” and called out Chartis’ milestone in recognizing hospitals over a decade.

Ivinson’s recognition in 2026 came the same month Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan announced its own 2026 Top 100 designation, listing Ivinson and St. Johns Health in Jackson as fellow Wyoming winners. Sheridan’s CEO Mike McCafferty said, “Being named among the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals is a reflection of the dedication of our providers, staff and volunteers, as well as the trust our community places in us.” Sheridan’s announcement also noted that 2026 marked the 10th time Sheridan had earned Chartis Top 100 recognition since the program began in 2016.
Local reporting and trade coverage describe Ivinson as an active community hospital. Becker’s Hospital Review identifies Ivinson as a 99-bed community hospital and details recent projects: a new women and children’s center, a multi-phase emergency department renovation nearing completion with public and private funding, and a care alliance with Children’s Hospital Colorado that provides 24/7 specialized neonatal and pediatric care. Becker’s also notes Ivinson has launched new service lines including orthopedics and urgent care, recruited key providers, and runs community programs such as monthly suicide prevention classes and free screenings.
The record of past Top 100 listings contains inconsistent public statements that require follow-up. Ivinson’s Feb. 25, 2025 press release explicitly states the hospital “was named a 2025 Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital” and that it “first earned Top 100 designation in 2018–2022.” Becker’s published a statement that Ivinson “was named one of the top 100 rural and community hospitals by the Chartis Center for Rural Health for 2024.” The Feb. 23, 2026 announcement asserts this 2026 honor is the hospital’s seventh since 2018. These specific year-by-year claims differ across the hospital release and trade coverage and should be reconciled against Chartis’ Top 100 archives and Ivinson’s press archive for a definitive list.
If confirmed, the 2026 designation would add to a pattern of repeat Chartis recognition tied to Ivinson’s recent capital projects, new service lines and the 24/7 neonatal and pediatric care partnership that hospital leaders say keep more families close to home in Laramie and Albany County.
