Jamestown Regional One of Two North Dakota Commercial Airports Posting January Gains
Jamestown Regional Airport logged a year-over-year increase in January boardings, making it one of only two North Dakota commercial airports to post gains, state aeronautics data shows.

Jamestown Regional Airport recorded a year-over-year rise in January boardings, positioning the Stutsman County field as one of only two North Dakota commercial airports to post gains in the month, the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission said in its March 3, 2026 data release. The commission added that statewide commercial airport boardings “dipped slightly year-over-year but remained historically high.”
The increase at Jamestown matters for local connectivity: the airport, two miles northeast of Jamestown at 1600 21st Ave NE, is a Part 139 certified commercial field with scheduled United Express service operated by SkyWest Airlines. FlyJamestown states the airport provides “two daily flights to Denver International Airport,” while Wikipedia notes flights operate twice each weekday and once on Saturdays and Sundays; Denver was the airport’s top domestic destination with 8,980 passengers in the December 2023–November 2024 table.

Operational and facility details underline Jamestown’s regional role. FAA information effective February 19, 2026 lists Jamestown Regional (IATA/FAA JMS, ICAO KJMS) at latitude 46-55-47.0000N and longitude 098-40-41.5000W, elevation 1,499.9 ft. Runway 13/31 measures 6,502 ft and runway 4/22 measures 5,750 ft, both asphalt. The airport is owned by the Jamestown Regional Airport Authority and managed by Katie Hemmer; the authority’s listed phone is 701-252-6466 and the airport email is jmsairport@daktel.com.
Longer-term statistics available in the public record vary by source: a Wikipedia statistics block lists “Passengers 24,000,” aircraft operations 11,916 and 36 based aircraft in a table labeled Statistics (2019), while travel site Kupi lists “Annual Passengers About 22,000.” The NDAC release focuses on month-to-month boardings; FlyJamestown continues to market convenience features including “Parking is always FREE at Jamestown Regional Airport.”
Jamestown’s commercial service remains subsidized under the federal Essential Air Service program, a key policy mechanism that supports scheduled flights from smaller fields. The airport’s top two domestic destinations also highlight market concentration: Denver accounted for 8,980 passengers and Devils Lake for 460 passengers in the December 2023–November 2024 ranking, reflecting that most commercial traffic funnels through the Denver connection.
Pilots and operators will note practical operational remarks from AirNav and FAA records: attendance Monday–Friday 0800–1700, ARTCC Minneapolis Center, FSS Grand Forks, NOTAMs via JMS (NOTAM-D), and an AirNav caution that there are “BIRDS ON AND INVOF ARPT.” Fueling after-hours is available via the FBO at 701-952-1515. The field’s activation date is listed as 03/1938, underscoring its longstanding role in regional transport.
With NDAC saying statewide boardings remain historically high despite a small year-over-year dip, Jamestown’s January uptick keeps the airport relevant for Stutsman County’s economy and travel options. Airport manager Katie Hemmer and the Jamestown Regional Airport Authority continue to operate the field from their PO Box 1560 address in Jamestown and can be reached at 701-252-6466 for operational or scheduling clarification.
