LEGO and D&D unveil display-style Red Dragon’s Tale set
LEGO released details for a fan-designed Dungeons & Dragons set with a diorama, six minifigures, monsters, and a digital adventure; Insiders get early access and a gift-with-purchase.

LEGO confirmed a fan-designed LEGO Ideas set, Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale (21348), will land as a major licensed, display-style release tied to Dungeons & Dragons. The set will be offered to LEGO Insiders starting April 1, 2026, and will reach general retail on April 4, 2026, carrying an MSRP of $359.99.
The kit centers on a multi-scene diorama built for display and tabletop crossover play. Core elements include a tavern with a removable roof for scene access, a dungeon, a tower, and a large red dragon named Cinderhowl that can wrap the tower. The box contains six minifigures, examples noted include an Orc Rogue, a Gnome Fighter, an Elf Wizard, and a Dwarf Cleric, alongside brick-built monsters such as a beholder, owlbear, and displacer beast. The arrangement is clearly aimed at collectors who like modular display pieces and players who want dramatic set dressing for encounters.
Wizards of the Coast developed a bespoke adventure to accompany the set; the adventure will be available as a digital download for Insiders and through D&D Beyond. That pairing turns the diorama from a static showcase into play-ready terrain with a narrative hook, offering immediate crossover value for dungeon masters who want a themed one-shot or an encounter vignette to drop into a home campaign.
Insiders purchasing LEGO during the early window (April 1–7) will receive a Mimic Dice Box gift-with-purchase, adding a playful accessory that doubles as a storage and display item. The set release is timed alongside broader D&D LEGO activity, with a D&D minifigure series planned to launch later in the year, positioning this product as the flagship entry in a coordinated cross-brand push.
For DMs, players, and collectors the practical value is clear: the set supplies large, photo-ready pieces and character figures that can be used for display, streaming background, or in-session terrain. The digital adventure via D&D Beyond means the set is not just decorative but immediately usable at the table with stat blocks and scenario structure available for download.
Expect demand during the Insiders window; plan purchases if you want the Mimic Dice Box GWP or early access. For campaign builders, Cinderhowl and the linked adventure give a ready-made boss encounter with built-in set dressing, while collectors will watch the scheduled minifigure series for fuller party options. This release signals an ongoing collaboration between LEGO and D&D that will shape product drops and tabletop tie-ins through the year.
