Nebraska Man Arrested for Child Exploitation Charge Linked to Marlborough
A cyber tip from NCMEC launched a 13-month investigation that ended with a Nebraska man's arrest on child exploitation charges tied to his former Marlborough home.

A yearlong investigation rooted in a tip about electronic files at a Marlborough residence culminated in the arrest of Colin Sutton, 22, of Lincoln, Nebraska, on a felony charge of possessing a sexual performance by a child under 16 years of age.
New York State Police Troop F Computer Crime Unit arrested Sutton on Feb. 26, 2026. State police classified the charge as a Class E felony. Sutton was released after the arrest and issued an appearance ticket for Town of Marlborough Court. According to the NYSP announcement, he was scheduled to appear on March 3, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
The case traces back to January 2025, when the NYSP Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce received a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That tip set off an investigation jointly conducted by the Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, the Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Highland barracks, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
The investigation led investigators to Sutton's former residence in the Town of Marlborough, where they executed a search warrant targeting electronic devices. Sutton, who used to live in Marlborough before relocating to Lincoln, Nebraska, was charged in connection with material found through that search. No details about the specific devices or files seized were disclosed in state police's public account of the case.
The name of Sutton's attorney was not immediately available at the time of reporting. No statements from Sutton or a defense representative have been made public. Sutton is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Troop F Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Alvarez is listed as the contact for the investigation. Troop F operates under Commander Major Andre R. Terry.
